So I met this awesome group of people in my life recently, who happen to be as into Halloween as I am. Last year they hosted a Halloween Haunt event at their house, transforming it from home to disturbing maze, and I got to go through it.
This year, we decided to merge the two events, my birthday, and a horror maze. Mo and I set off to write a great Haunted maze story and the plan was to shoot a trailer for it, as well as a teaser. We got said awesome group of people together once again this year to do the shoot. And this is what we made.
Trailer: The Orphanage
Starring:
House Mother - Lindsey Crummet
Little Girl - Kelly Marie
Evil Doctor - Mark Keetch
Dead Girl - Me (Kelly Christophers)
Director/Cinematographer - Moragot Bodharamik
Halloween 2013 - Trailer 1 from Moragot Bodharamik on Vimeo.
Teaser: The Doctor
Starring:
Evil Doctor - Mark Keetch
Victim - Me (Kelly Christophers)

Halloween 2013 - Trailer 2 from Moragot Bodharamik on Vimeo.
All Lighting was done by Mark and Moragot, all set design done my myself and Moragot, Make up and prosthetics done by Kelly Marie, and all characters brought their own character costumes.
It was fun working on these. Can't wait for the event to happen! :)

Wolverine Crew Gear
So as we do, every time we finish a film, we make ourselves some exclusive merchandise for all the people involved in the digital crew. We all get a chance to submit our designs, so with some spare time, I decided to give it a bash.
It turned out my design got voted to be the Weta's crew gear for The Wolverine (2013)!! So it's been made into some cool t-shirts and a rad red hoodie :D so here it is on display:

City Monster
This time I thought I'd try out something I'd never done before.... Creating a monster design of my own... It took some experimentation, but in the end it was quite fun coming up with a mash up of designs I really liked. Originally, the idea wast to create a contrast, presenting a monster in a lighthearted manner, or a setting that would contradict the existence of the monster (eg, in a suburban neighborhood).
With this theme in mind, Moragot and I decided to try it out. My idea developed, however, with the monster's appearance being quite angry/frightening, I changed the setting to still include a pet, but in a darker and scarier setting... the dingy streets of a city.
If you'd like to see Mo's version (which is AWESOME), click here.
I've included the timelapse of the drawing process if you wanna take a peek :) Hope you enjoy!
And of course, the timelapse:

Chell Drawing Timelapse
I'm a big fan of Portal. Getting back into digital sketching seemed like the perfect opportunity to do some fan art. I'm still using the 'Procreate' app on my iPad, which has a nifty new feature which automatically records a Timelapse of your drawing.
So here I present the final picture and its timelapse. Hope you enjoy!!

Sentries and Soldiers
Mo and I decided to take kitbashing to a whole new level!
Buying model parts ranging from tanks and planes, to ships and podracers, we assembled them all to create our very own robots.
We were invited to feature our models on the Nuthin' but Mech website here:
http://nuthinbutmech.blogspot.co.nz/
Here are some examples of the process and final product!
Man, this was so much fun. We've already kicked off some bigger mechs to add to the world, so watch this space!
If you want to see more of Mo's artwork, you can see his stuff here:

Thanks for watching! :)

Back after 8 years: A study of Mo
It's been a long time since I've been submersed in art. 8 years roughly...
Being surrounded by creative people has helped spark the desire to create again, and to get into it, I have started with some digital art done on my iPad.
Using an app called "Procreate", I was able to get back into sketching and practising my line work. With some helpful hints from Mo, this is what was born :)

The Good ol' school days
We all went through the embarrassing era of those college days where we thought we were top dogs in the art world. I now realise how much I still had to go in the big world... But thought I'd take a look back and post some of the things that weren't so bad :)
I studied a more traditional animation form back at AFDA (The South African Film, Drama, and Arts School). Although we probably finished around 12 short films throughout the 3 years of our school career, it all came down to 2 main projects that we did in our third year. One was an experimental film I animated called "Black Heart Button", where were were allowed to experiment with the strange and wonderful aspects of animation (and in my case I chose to go dark), and the last was another project we did called "The Gravekeeper", which had an awesome set that I'd like to show off, thanks to the awesome crew that worked with me on the project!
Here are some visuals of the projects we took on.
This is a timelapse video we did animating a shot from the Gravekeeper.
It was a story about a lonely Gravekeeper, who lived in a world where little creatures were guardians to the people. Only problem is, the Gravekeeper's guardian, Ori, was afraid of almost everything, and has to learn the courage to protect the Gravekeeper from the danger that awaits him.
We had tons of fun building our sets: A fun and distorted grave yard, and the Gravekeeper's room:
Black Heart Button: Experimental Film
And here I post the video of the Experimental film we did. It was really weird, and inspired by the animations done by Brothers Quay, but it was great breaking out of the formula of conventional film making.
And that's my past revealed... hope you didn't laugh too hard ;)
